Here's everything you need to know about our adventure...

FAQ

Q: How did you ever come up with such a nutty plan?
A: We started talking about it last fall and have spent the past year researching, going to RV shows, visiting RV dealers, and following fulltime RVers on blogs and Facebook groups. It became increasingly clear that this was a lifestyle we wanted to live and enjoy for the next few years.

Q: Where will you go?
A: Wherever we want.

Q: Seriously, where will you go?
A: Generally, we’ll follow the nice weather, which means the southwest/west coast in the winter, and the northeast in the summer. Our plans include being tourists in L.A. and NYC; doing urban hiking in Chicago and Boston, and visiting national parks and places we never been like Mount Rushmore and Niagara Falls. In short, if we get hungry for chowder, we’ll head to New England; if we get hungry for Tex-Mex we’ll head for Texas.

Q: What about your family? Won’t you miss them?
A: We’ll probably spend about a third of our time based in the Atlanta/Chattanooga area, so we’ll be around for most holidays and other family celebrations. The rest of the time there’s always texting, email, Facebook and FaceTime. Phillip and Michael are also into RVing, so we’ll probably have some family meet-ups at some remote or exotic locations.

Q: What will you do with all your stuff?
A: What stuff? Remember, two years ago we sold our house and downsized significantly. We’ll find new homes for few pieces of furniture in our apartment. Other than that, we should be all right.

Q: If you’re going to live in an RV, won’t you be giving up a lot of conveniences?
A: Modern RVs are pretty impressive. Our new home includes a king bed; washer & dryer; residential size refrigerator; electric fireplace; and four TVs. Our floor plan also features a small bonus room/office/separate bedroom.

Q: Wow. How big is it?
A: Our new home is 40 feet long, 13 feet high and weighs almost 14,000 pounds. That’s why we also bought a 2015 F-350 dually to pull it. If you want specifics, our rig is a 2018 Montana 3950BR fifth wheel.

Q: But, won’t you have to dump the… you know… waste water?
A: Yep. There’s a downside to every plan.

Q: Where will you park your RV on the road?
A: There are thousands of places across the country including RV parks, state parks and national parks. With our military retirement, we also qualify to stay at the many military bases that have RV parks at very affordable rates. Many are in excellent locations. In a pinch, there are Walmart parking lots.

Q: Do you have nickname for your new home?
A: We’ve thought about it and have a few ideas. We appreciate suggestions.

Q: Will you post updates and pictures of your adventures on Facebook? Oh wait… silly question.
A: You’re right. It is a silly question. Of course we will.
